The Heart of Silicon Valley
Though Santa Clara County is often billed as “the heart of Silicon Valley,” the fact is that it makes up much of what is Silicon Valley; or its northern part does, anyway. It’s hardly surprising, then, that Santa Clara County real estate is some of the most highly valued not just in California, but also throughout the rest of the country.
The birthplace of many of the revolutionary innovations that propelled the world into today’s Information Age, Santa Clara contains the headquarters of such high technology titans as Apple Inc., Google, Hewlett-Packard, Sun Microsystems, and a host of others. While it is most well-known for its technology-based economy, Santa Clara County is also famous for its natural beauty, rich history and cultural diversity.
A region of lush valleys, rolling hills and clear, sunny skies all year round, the county offers a quality of life second to none. Diversity defines everything about the area, from its geography to its economy and its selection of Silicon Valley real estate. This makes a wide range of lifestyle options possible. Whether you want to live secluded in your own mountain retreat or right in the heart of the city, you’ll find that there are more ways to enjoy life here than you’d imagine.
Santa Clara is California’s sixth-largest county, with the city of San José as its seat. It sprawls over 1,312 square miles and has a population of 1,748,976 (according to a US Census 2007 estimate). The majority of Santa Clara County real estate is located in the Santa Clara Valley, which is bordered by the Diablo Range on the east and the Santa Cruz Mountains on the west.
